Dr. Sudhir M. Parikh, is one of the most honored Indian-Americans. Over the course of many decades in the U.S., Dr. Parikh has contributed to American life through his skills as a physician, but also engaged actively in philanthropic work for the betterment of fellow Americans as well as people in his ancestral homeland.
He has received the 2010 Padma Shri from India, one of the highest civilian awards bestowed by that country; the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman award in 2005, honoring Indians living abroad; the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in the U.S. given to outstanding immigrants by the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO); the Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Samman award bestowed in Britain's House of Lords recognizing his philanthropic contributions. He was nominated as Knight of the Ecumenical Hospitaller Order of St. John Knights of Malta.
Dr. Parikh received a special mention in the Congressional Record for his work to strengthen U.S.- India relations, including the seminal U.S. India Civil Nuclear Cooperation agreement.
Dr. Parikh is the Chairman of Parikh Worldwide Media Inc. and ITV Gold, making him the head of the largest Indian-American publishing group in the United States. The group publishes five periodicals – “News India Times,” a national weekly newspaper; “Desi Talk in New York,” a weekly newspaper serving the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut region; and “Desi Talk in Chicago,” a weekly newspaper serving the Greater Chicago area and the Midwestern states; and “The Indian American,” a national bimonthly feature magazine, as well as Gujarat Times, a Gujarati language weekly. In 2019, Dr. Parikh acquired ITV Gold, the oldest Indian-American television station.
Currently serving as the President of Project Life, an organization
that has helped marginalized communities in India for decades. Project Life, with the involvement of over 30 million people, has spread its social work to several niche areas since its inception: it has saved over 300,000 lives through a blood center; served more than 1.4 million people through its Thalassemia prevention center; helped over half a million people through a life health and wellness center; trained more than 6,000 women to earn a living; and constructed over 71 primary schools in rural Gujarat.
Dr. Parikh serves on the board of the U.S.-based Federation of Indian Associations (FIA); he is the Patron and Trustee of the American Association of Physicians of Indian origin (AAPI) Charitable Foundation; and founding board member and vice chairman of the Indian American Republican Council (IARC).
He is the Secretary General of the Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO.in) which works to build better health care services in India using the vast number of Indian medical professionals around the world.
He is also the immediate past president of the Indian American Forum for Political Education (IAFPE).
Dr. Parikh is a practicing consulting allergist in New Jersey. He has received international acclaim in the treatment of allergy, asthma and immunology, and is listed in the Who’s Who in America in the Field of Medicine. He is serving as Consulting Allergist at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and other teaching hospitals throughout New Jersey. Dr. Parikh is a member of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology; Diplomat of the American Board of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; as well as a Fellow of the American College of Allergy and Immunology; a member of the New Jersey Licensing Board of Physicians. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School. He was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor at the NY Medical College in 1980.

Dr. Sudha Parikh is the co-Chairman and co-Publisher of Parikh Worldwide Media Inc., the largest Indian-American publishing group in the United States. The group publishes five periodicals – “News India Times,” a national weekly newspaper; “Desi Talk in New York,” a weekly newspaper serving the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut region; “Desi Talk in Chicago,” a weekly newspaper serving the Greater Chicago area and the Midwestern states; “The Indian American,” an online magazine, and the Gujarat Times, a Gujarati language weekly. The combined circulation and readership of these publications make the media group the most influential in the ethnic Indian market. In September, 2017, she co-published a quarterly magazine, US-India Global Review, under the aegis of the Parikh Foundation for India’s Global Development, based in New York. In 2018, she co-acquired ITV Gold, a 24x7 TV news channel, based in New York City. ITV Gold is the oldest news and entertainment channel in the US.
Philanthropy
Dr. Parikh is a patron of noteworthy philanthropic organizations, including as Senior Advisor of the USA chapter of the Gujarat-based Project Life – a major Non-Governmental Organization started in 1978, which is heavily involved in buildings schools in rural areas, expanding education for marginalized populations, and in the healthcare arena, in India.
Project Life, with the involvement of over 30 million people, has saved and helped almost 2 million people through its blood center, Thalassemia prevention center; and a life health and wellness center. It has also trained more than 6,000 women to earn a living; and constructed over 71 primary schools in rural Gujarat.
She is a patron of several other philanthropic organizations, including the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO), Order of St. John Knights of Malta and the American India Foundation, and has contributed generously to select causes in India, Europe and the United States. Her significant donations to these organizations have been channeled into projects – among others – of the American Red Cross, Gift of Life International, The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Hurricane Sandy relief and Haiti earthquake relief, and the rehabilitation of the Gujarat earthquake and Tamil Nadu tsunami victims. Dr. Parikh is closely involved with the Share and Care Foundation, a nonprofit helping the poorest of the poor in India. From 1995 through 2005, Dr. Parikh co-funded a scholarship program for undergraduate students in the Indian-American community through the Share and Care Foundation.
Medicine
Dr. Sudha Parikh is a well-known anesthesiologist, in New Jersey. At present, she works at the Surgery Center of Central New Jersey, in North Brunswick. In the past, she has practiced at several other reputable facilities, including Montclair Community Hospital, in New Jersey, Middlesex General Hospital, in New Brunswick, New York Medical College, Westchester County Medical Center, Valhalla, in New York, and the Greenpoint Hospital, in Brooklyn, New York.
She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Medical Society of New Jersey, N.J. Society of Anesthesiology, American Society of Anesthesiology, and the Union County Medical Society.
